Greenland optical ground station
Optical ground station Astrolight is building with ESA at Kangerlussuaq, Greenland, near the Arctic Circle.
Why it matters
ESA and Astrolight present the station as a way to strengthen ground communications in the region and to protect satellite links against interference or piracy.
How the technology works
The station will use Astrolight's laser receiving technology to collect satellite downlinks at high latitude.
