DARK propulsion system

Arkadia's satellite propulsion system using high-concentration hydrogen peroxide, which gave about 5 newtons of thrust in its first in-orbit test.

Why it matters

Hydrazine is toxic, so fueling a satellite needs hazmat suits and special facilities. A peroxide system that performs similarly cuts that handling cost.

How the technology works

Hydrogen peroxide flows over a catalyst, decomposes into hot steam and oxygen and exits through a nozzle. Arkadia tested the system on a D-Orbit ION satellite carrier launched in March 2025, and Payload reports the flight unit produced 5 N of thrust.
