Opal

An in-space thruster that applies Alpha Impulsion's self-consuming engine idea to satellites. As of mid-2025 the company planned a first development test for late 2025 and qualification in 2026.

Why it matters

It gives the company a smaller, nearer-term product than a full rocket, built on the same engine principle.

How the technology works

Like the Grenat engine, Opal is meant to burn a solid fuel structure fed into a chamber where a catalyzed liquid oxidizer reacts with it. The company has not published thrust figures.
