Agnibaan

A small rocket built around single-piece 3D-printed semi-cryogenic engines, designed to carry up to 100 kg to a 700 km orbit. A suborbital test version flew in May 2024; no orbital flight has been reported yet.

Why it matters

Printing an engine as one piece cuts parts count and build time, which could make small rockets cheaper and faster to produce. Agnikul is also working on reusability with Indian government backing.

How the technology works

Agnibaan's engines run on semi-cryogenic propellants and are 3D-printed as single pieces. The 2024 suborbital test flew from a privately built launch pad, the first in India.

With Technology Development Board funding, Agnikul is working on reusable stages, controlled descent and recovery.
